Today, American society is in constant need of more compassion, and more justice. There is a battle going on between the forces of unity and division, self-interest and community, "us" versus "me." We see this battle playing out in our contradictory Covid-19 response
As we look backward in life, we might be struck by how as kids, we accepted pronouncements from Authority, occasionally, straining against it. But as we become adults dogmatic statements, especially because of grammatical error, or some other tiny bit of grit… it just doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t match our own efforts to do what we can, to make sense of life.
If it bothers us, imperfect as we are, what must God think?
I’ve never understood why people remained Catholic and for sure, many don’t. There is such a history of corruption.
